Herman Francis Boyter

Herman Francis Boyter was born on August 4, 1917 in Clinton, SC and died in Charlotte on October 18, 2012 . He met Mildred while he was living in Winston-Salem. They ran away to get married because neither family much liked the match. Little did they all know. They attended Hopewell Moravian. In 1942 Herman was Foreman of Carolina Distribution Company and in 1943 he moved to Roanoke to bottle for Dr. Pepper. While in Charlotte in 1947 he was foreman of the Coca-Cola Bottling Plant and in 1951 was plant superintendent at Dr. Pepper. (The man must know an awful lot about soft drink bottling, including those 5¢ Cokes!) In 1959, he was a Commercial Tax Accessor for Mecklenburg County. He then ran a local soft drink canning operation for Cantrell and Cochran. He eventually retired while working as a mechanic supervisor at Radiator Specialty. Mildred and Herman lived next to the coliseum and when it expanded, they moved to their home in Huntersville where Herman tended a huge garden. They have two sons, Danny and David and a daughter-in-law, Angie. Herman always helped out in the Little Church on the Lane kitchen, buying and cooking the chickens for Mildred's Moravian Chicken pies. He was an active member of the Fellowship Sunday School class meeting outside the Wolford Chapel-where the Barnabas Class meets today. He was active with the Elderberries and went on all their trips. Herman was kind, caring and giving but quite a 'pistol' readily offering his opinion but willing to hear yours. He died at Regency Assisted Living. All of us here at Little Church pray that God will continue to bless this very special member. A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Hopewell Moravian Church with the Pastor Walter Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
