Herman Bruce Bean

Mr. Herman Bruce Bean, 92, of Trinity, NC , formerly of Winston-Salem and Galax, VA, died Friday, April 18, 2014 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. He was born June 6, 1921 in Forsyth County, the son of the late David Leonard and Myrtle Cockerham Bean. Mr. Bean was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem and was presently a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Galax, VA. He was a graduate of James A. Gray High School and served with the US Army Air Core, along with his three brothers in the Mediterranean during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post #1115 in Hillsville, VA and was former owner/operator of Bean's Tire and Service Center in Winston-Salem. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Larry Bean and two brothers, Lloyd Edgar Bean and David Leonard Bean, II. Survivors include his wife, Doris Anderson Bean of the home; two daughters, Kathy Hylton St. Clair and husband, Mike of Augusta, GA and Trisha Decker and husband, Dan of Murfreesboro, TN; three stepsons, Barry Lawrence and wife, Melissa and Randall Lawrence and wife, Deborah of Trinity, NC and Richard Lawrence of Thomasville; thirteen grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Douglas Gilbert officiating. Entombment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:45 PM at the funeral home.
