Kernersville – Herbert Marshall Walker, Sr., 83, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at his residence. He was born on June 1, 1939, in Mercer County, WV to the late Edward Edison and Lula Mae Cochran Walker. Herbert was a veteran of the US Navy. He had a love for being outdoors, whether that meant fishing and spending time at the lake, brandishing his green thumb by gardening, or farming by tending to his chickens. Herbert was a family man and loved his grandbabies with all his heart. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Marshall “Tinker” Keith Walker, and Herbert Marshall Walker, Jr.; and four siblings, Frank, Roy, Bim, and Lewis Walker.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Judy Mullis Walker; one daughter, Kathy Walker Rushing (Rocky); one son, Jimmy Wayne Walker; eight grandchildren, Jason McGee (Brandi), Jeannetta McGee, Jimmy Walker, Jr. (Brittany), Jacob Walker (Brittany), Jessica Walker (Shaun), Ryan Walker, Ashley Walker, and Tyler Walker; thirteen great grandchildren, Justin Hartis (Torie), Grace Lapinsky (Levi), Zoe McGee, Bailey McGee, Eli Walker, Layla McDougal, Braelynn Walker, Bentley Walker, Ava Means, Brianna Sanchez, Isaac Walker, Reagan Rushing, and Rylee Rushing; one great great grandchild, Finley Lapinsky; five siblings, Joan Semonco, Roger, Dilly, Gary, and Andrea Walker; and many nieces and nephews as well.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 2, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Jason McGee officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 PM prior to services. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory.
