Mr. Herbert Gray Myers, 89, died Friday, January 16, 2015 at Vienna Village. He was born October 31, 1925 in Forsyth County to William and Ethel Leinbach Myers. Mr. Myers attended Harmony Grove United Methodist Church for many years and joined as a member when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, confirmed by baptism on November 18, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betty Jean Myers; a son, Jeffrey G. Myers; three sisters, Josephine M. Shoaf, Julia M. Lackey and Ruth M. Bumgardner. He is survived by three children, Herbert G. Myers, Jr. (Donna) of Lewisville, Dianne M. Matthews (Larry) of East Bend, and Marty L. Myers (Donna) of East Bend; daughter-in-law, Ann Foster of Winston-Salem; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary M. Clodfelter and Betty M. Bost (JC); several nieces and nephews and good friends, George Bargoil, Richard Harding, Julian Hill and Fred Crumpler. Mr. Myers served in the U.S. Navy, followed by employment at R.J. Reynolds and Western Electric, but couldn't resist his true gift as a talented and motivated entrepreneur. He attended Body Work and Auto Painting School in Chicago, returning to Lewisville to open a body shop of his own and later founded Lewisville Motor Company in 1956, still in operation today. He owned and operated numerous successful business ventures, including Lewisville Landfill, motels in Greensboro and Myrtle Beach, rental properties and anything was always for sale. He was a kind and loving father and grandfather, who will be remembered for his perseverance, courage, consideration of others and hard work, while never complaining about anything. He was an encourager and wanted to help his family and others succeed, as well. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 19, 2015 at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Freeman and Pastor Mark Elmore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at the Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel.
