Herbert Elmore ""Herb"" Floyd, 80, passed away February 8, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born February 7, 1929 in Forsyth County to Ernest Alton and Mamie Fulk Floyd. Herbert served in the United States Marine Corps., retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 38 years service, and attended New Friendship Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, gardening, and chats on the porch. Often a man of few words, yet the heart and wisdom matched by only a few. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Frances Brendle Floyd, a daughter, Janet Guy (Keith), a son, Mike Floyd (Donna), two grandchildren, Tyler Guy and Wesley Floyd, and a brother, Joe Floyd. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, February 12, 2009 at New Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Byrne officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8pm on Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Betsy English, Herb's ""Guardian Angel"", the nursing staff 5th West & 6th West Diabetic/Cardio at Forsyth Medical Center.
