Beloved Father, Grandfather, and Friend Henry ""Saltie"" Grady Stewart, Jr., 79, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, December 15, 2008 at his home. He was born June 18, 1929 in Forsyth County to the late Henry Grady and Gertrude Peak Stewart. He was retired from the Winston-Salem Journal with over 40 years of service. He was a lifelong member of Walkertown Pop Warner Football Program. He enjoyed woodworking which he made in his own shop, and loved to take to the Cricket's Nest for sale. He also enjoyed going to Hobby Park to watch R/C Aircraft, and was an active member of the Hobby Park R/C Aircraft Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty S. Stewart; a brother, Hooks Stewart; and three sisters, Lillian McIntyre, Delsi Underwood and Gertrude Hinson. Surviving are three daughters, Debbie Stewart of Winston-Salem, Katy Stewart Echerd and husband Richard of Thomasville, and Ashley Stewart of Advance; three sons, Mike Stewart and wife Donna of Reidsville, Lee Stewart and wife Maria of Raeford, and Chris Stewart of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren, Avery Naylor, Samuel, Isabella, and Abigail Stewart, Amber Ponce and Bryan Hall; one great grandson, Gabriel Ponce; and a close friend of the family who was loved like a son, Dale Wilson and wife Regina of King. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 19 at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with the Rev. Virgil Chitty officiating.
