Henry Astor Norman

Mr. Henry Astor Norman, 97, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born June 18, 1918 in Yadkin County to Hyatt Dula and Millie Wooten Norman. Mr. Norman served in the U.S. Army Infantry during WWII and earned a purple heart and a bronze star with two clusters. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; wife Erthalee F. Norman; a son, Ronald A. Norman; two brothers and three sisters. Surviving are two daughters, Sharon N. Marquette and husband Steve of Kingsville, MD, Beverly N. Brown and husband Ron of Oviedo, FL; a step-son, Leonard A. Dennison and wife Kathleen of Winston-Salem; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; special friend, Nancy Warner. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Enon Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Elmore and Pastor Adam Street officiating Entombment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. Mr. Norman will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Enon Baptist Church, 6321 Old Highway 421, East Bend, NC 27018. Online condolences can be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
