Henry Leroy 'Lee' Dowell

Henry Leroy ""Lee"" Dowell, 75, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Davie Place in Mocksville. He was born in Surry County to the late Roy and Lucy Sloop Dowell. He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Lee and brother, Robert. Lee is survived by four sisters, Nita Bullard of Kinston, Maxine Dowell of Advance, Bonnie Paschal and Brenda Hutchins of Winston-Salem, their children and grandchildren; also surviving is a special person in Lee's life, Lynn Phipps of California. He loved her as a daughter and her family as his own. Lee and his siblings grew up at the Children's Home. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller-Kinderton Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
