Hellen Marie Mullins Short

SHORT - Winston-Salem Mrs. Helen Marie Mullins Short, 79, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2008 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital Palliative Care Unit. She was born August 17, 1929 in Sullivan County, TN to the late Melvin Roy and Hazel Marie Estelle Orfield Mullins. Helen was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and participated in Meals on Wheels and the Crisis Center, also tutored for Salem Presbytery Hispanic Ministry. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Spiritual Frontiers Fellowship, Edgar Cayce Foundation, and Ancient and Mystical Order of the Rosy Cross (AMORC). Helen was an artist, skilled craft person, excellent cook, gardener, and she loved to travel. Helen always brought beauty into every situation. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William Short and four brothers. Surviving are one sister, Wilma Lane of Stanleyville; one brother, Glenn Mullins of VA; her daughter, Joan Barnette of TN; her son, Phil Barnette of TN; one grandson, Daniel Barnette (Angela); one great-grandson, DeForest Barnette; also, several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted 4:00 P.M. Saturday, October 18 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with Dr. Judson Milam officiating. (Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel)
