Helga Davenport

Helga Ella Kunze Davenport, 97, passed away on March 19, 2023, at Willowbrook Rehabilitation and Care Center in Yadkinville. Helga was born to Paul Herman Karl Otto Kunze and Helene Boege Kunze on March 13, 1926, in Hamburg, Germany. She traveled to the United States as a flying trapeze artist with a German aerial troop that later joined Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus as a featured act. She was a homemaker and was known for her cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and gardening.  Helga worked in management positions in the restaurant and retail industries well into her 70’s. In addition to spending time with her family, she loved to travel. Helga was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Davenport; and a brother, Hans Joachim Kunze. Surviving are her children, Patricia Spillman (Eugene), Sheila Bassett, Veda Norman (James), Harold Murphy, and Gerald Murphy; grandchildren, Jennifer Moore (Jamie), Scott Hicks (Allison), Johnny Spillman (Kara), Tabitha Hutchens (Kendal), Joshua Hicks, Heather Williams (Craig), Joanna Swaim (Kenan), Corey Norman (Desi); great grandchildren; Alex, Asher, Ava, Beau, Ella, Gabrielle, Grayson, Karson, Kellen, Luc, Madison, Mason, Mollie, Olivia, Savanna, Scarlett, Zoey, (unborn: Luna); great, great grandchild, Oliver.
