Helen Thompson

Helen Pratt Thompson, 87, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022.  She was born May 14, 1935, in Colerain, NC to the late Paul Lester Pratt and Carrie Virginia Brown. She was sister to Carrie Jo Perry, deceased, and Betty Pratt Todd.  She lived 38 years in Suffolk, VA and had recently relocated to Bermuda Run, NC to be near her family.  She is now in her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior, whom she devotedly served throughout her lifetime and pointed others to Him. Helen leaves her loving husband, Charles, of sixty wonderful years of marriage. She also leaves her devoted children, Billie Schneider (Jeff) and Wesley Thompson (Lisa); her loving grandchildren Ashley Bonasso (John Michael), Brandon Schneider (Anna-Layne), Carlee Cloos (Will), Chase Thompson and Hunter Thompson; 13 great grandchildren Adela, Luca, Myles, Helen and Georgia Bonasso, Watson, Emerson, Margaret and Oliver Schneider, Cora, Rubee, Noah, and Grayson Cloos. Helen served her church and community as a devoted pastor’s wife throughout their ministry to many churches.  Later in life, she graduated from Virginia State University and spent 20 years as a teacher to 6th grade middle school students.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband.  Some of her passions included playing the card game Canasta, shopping at Belk, and eating out with her friends. The Joy of the Lord was her strength.  Her enthusiastic spirit and contagious smile, along with her gift of laughter brightened any room she entered, inspiring anyone she met. Her legacy of loving others’ lives on through her family. Mrs. Thompson’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service 11:00 AM Monday, December 12, 2022 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Pastor Charles W. Thompson officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
