Helen Voncannon Sloan

Helen Voncannon Sloan, age 91, died August 19, 2015 peacefully at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born December 13, 1923 to Henry Bryan and Nora Whitman Voncannon. She graduated from RJ Reynolds High School and Salem College. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years.
She married Fredrick A. Sloan in 1952 and they were married for almost 50 years until his death in 2001.
Helen was a member of Green Street United Methodist Church for over 70 years, in her active years she enjoyed serving her church in many capacities. Visiting shut ins was her favorite.
Surviving are daughter-Susan Sloan Johnston, son in law-Jeff, grandson-Thomas and great grandson-Samuel.
Many loving aunts, cousins, and friends made her life happy.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 11:00 am at Forsyth Memorial Park by Chaplain Rennie Adcock.
