Mrs. Helen Irene Spivey Shaw, 74, of Clemmons passed away Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born January 21, 1936 in Buncombe County, the daughter of Margaret Irene Spivey. Mrs. Shaw was of the Moravian faith. She was retired from Forsyth Tech and Winston-Salem State University as an administrative assistant. She was preceded in death by her mother and her husband, Hiram J. Shaw. Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Grady and husband Pat of Clemmons, Donna Dent and husband Bill of Winston-Salem, and Su Rene Trollinger and husband Tim of Rural Hall; six grandchildren, Kathleen G. Warner and husband Adam, Patrick Dennis Grady and wife Addy, Zachary James Trollinger, Margaret Victoria Trollinger, Adam Johnson Trollinger, and Rachael Sydney Dent; two great grandchildren; one brother, William G. Spivey and wife Pat of Winston-Salem; one aunt, Ruby Z. Spivey, of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Neill Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
