Mrs. Helen Eudene ""Dene"" Roche, 100, of Bermuda Run, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at her home. She was born July 1, 1910 in Davie County to the late Jesse and Minnie Waller Zimmerman. Mrs. Roche attended Campbell College and graduated from George Washington University. She lived in Washington, DC until 1993, when she moved to Bermuda Run. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons and retired from Department of Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC as Coordinator for Surgeon General C. Everette Koop. Mrs. Roche will be remembered for her love of family, flowers, traveling, reading and talent for her beautiful paintings. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Roche; five brothers, Floyd, Thomas, Herman, Lacy Green and Louie Zimmerman and two sisters, Beatrice ""Bea"" Purdy and Ruby Cope. Surviving is a sister, Edythe Zimmerman Whelan of Waldorf Maryland; three nieces, Dene Pitts of Advance, Sandy Aasland and Shirley Snyder, both of Hampton, VA; nine nephews, Steve Zimmerman of Columbia, SC, Kevin Zimmerman of Advance; Bobby Cope of Georgetown, DE, Gene Cope of Jupiter, FL, Jimmy Cope of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jack Zimmerman of Summerfield, Cliff Zimmerman of FL, Mike Whelan and Tim Whelan, both of Waldorf, MD, numerous great nieces and nephews and a special cat ""Willie Boy"". A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. Tri Truong officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. She will be interred at Elbaville United Methodist Church.
