Helen Taylor Rackley

Helen Taylor Rackley passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015. She was born in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina, July 17, 1934, the third daughter of Elijah Harrison Taylor and Nancy Elizabeth Anderson Taylor, who preceded her in death. She was a 1952 graduate of Mineral Springs High School, Winston-Salem, NC. She was employed from 1952 to 1967, as a secretary at Lawyers Title Insurance Corp. before starting her family. She was gracious and enjoyed the pleasures of other's company and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Helen loved her family, her church family at Northwest Baptist Church where she was a member for over 40 years. Most of all, she loved her precious Lord above everything. She and her wonderful husband, Cecil, were married for 45 years, before his death in 2010, after a long illness at their home. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by her first born, a dear and loving ""Son"", Tracy Duane Rackley, at the age of 23, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in 1991. She was preceded in death by a dear sister, Nancy Taylor Newsome. Survivors include a precious daughter, Robin Dawn Rackley Thornton and husband, David Alan Thornton, Sr. Also, two loving-dear grandsons, David ""D. J."" Alan Thornton, Jr. and Dawson Trace Thornton. Her dear sisters, Lucille Marshall of Germanton, NC., Peggy Booth and husband Palmer, of Westfield, NC., Shirley Snow and husband, Keith of Rural Hall, NC. Also a brother-in-law Dr. Charles E. Rackley and wife Elizabeth ""Betsy"" of Washington, DC, several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank their relatives, friends, neighbors and caregivers for their love, and time spent taking care of her. A funeral service will be held at 4:00pm on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the Mausoleum Chapel. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Northwest Baptist Church, 407 Petree Road, Winston-Salem NC 27106. Mrs. Rackley will be entombed next to her husband and son.
