Mrs. Helen Furtris Poulos, 95, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, January 25, 2010 at Bermuda Commons. She was born in Makri-Tripoli, Greece on September 15, 1914 to the late Athanasios and Pagona Borovas Futris. Mrs. Poulos was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. She came to the United States in November 1951. Along with her husband, Harry Poulos, she owned and operated several restaurants in Winston-Salem. She was preceded in death by her husband. Mrs. Poulos is survived by a daughter, Christina Morris of Winston-Salem; a son, Jimmy Argyropoulos and wife Eva of Greece; a granddaughter, Jennifer Morris; a great grandson, Tyler Goodin; a godson, Ted G. Futris and wife Deena; a niece Sumiko, wife of the late Tommy Futris; a nephew, Gus Futris and wife Afrodite; great nieces and nephews, Rebeka Futris, Ted T. Futris, Elena Nagel and husband Paul, Sandra Saundercook and husband Joe, as well as their children. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church with the Father Demetri Kangelaris officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00pm to 8:00 pm at the church, with the Trisagion service taking place at 7:30 pm.
