Mrs. Helen Virginia ""Jennie"" Haire Pekora, 83, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010. She was born on March 21, 1927 in Yadkin County, a daughter of Sallie Groce and Thomas Edison Haire. Mrs. Pekora attended public schools in Yadkin County, as well as The Womans College of Greensboro. She worked at Hanes Hosiery in Winston-Salem prior to having children. Mrs. Pekora spent most of her adult life in Satellite Beach, FL with her beloved husband, Al. She was active in many projects in this community, including construction of the new library and civic center which she helped bring to fruition. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Minnie Ruth Wrigley, Daniel Marshall Haire, and John Phillip Haire. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Albert T. Pekora of Bermuda Village; daughters, Sally(Ron) Hauser of Advance and Phyllis (Bill) Caffey of Lansing; grandsons Matthew (Jordan) Hauser of Winston-Salem, Christopher Hauser of Matthews, and Jeffrey Prato of Dripping Springs, TX. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 23,2010, at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday from 12:30 until 2:00 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Kate B.
