Helen Parnell

Mrs. Helen Hester Parnell, 92, went home to be with her Lord and loved ones on Monday, October 28, 2019, at Piney Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kernersville, NC. Helen was born in Forsyth County on January 30, 1927, to Clarence D. and Mary Osborne Hester. She retired after 27 years of service with North Carolina Baptist Retirement Homes. Helen loved to cook for large and small groups and was an avid NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt Sr. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, George Donald Parnell; one daughter, Ruth Anthony; and one son, Douglas Burton Parnell. Surviving are two sons, Ronny Parnell (wife Gerri) and Tim Parnell; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; and many cherished friends. A graveside service will be held at 10am on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at Oaklawn Gardens of Memory with Chaplain Robin D. Sides officiating. The family would like to give a special thanks to the entire staff at Piney Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kernersville, NC, for their care, devotion, and love during Helen’s final years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
