Helen Montgomery

Mrs. Helen S. Montgomery, 92, passed away Monday June 27, 2022.  She was born July 9, 1929, in Martinsville, VA to the late Witcher B. and Ninner Sue Stultz. She was a medical secretary in Martinsville, VA before moving and becoming an academic medical secretary at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine. Helen loved golf and to tend to her garden as well as spend time with her family at the beaches along the North Carolina coasts. She was a member of the Mountainbrook Garden Club and the NC Extension Homemakers.  In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her first husband, Bane Edward Boyer; second husband, Frank L. Montgomery; two brothers, Witcher Benford Stultz, Jr. (Geneva) and Jesse Carlton Stultz (Nannie); and brother-in-law, Darrel Short. She is survived by her two daughters, Lynn Boyer and Ann Boyer; granddaughter, Courtney Roof (Kyle Castellon); sister, Dorothy Short; three stepsons: Chip Montgomery (Linda) and granddaughter Katie Dayton (Lawson), Bob Montgomery (Saundra Tewes) and grandson Kyle Montgomery, and Fritz Montgomery (Cindy); two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen also leaves behind Glenna Hill (Mike) and many other close friends.  A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday July 1, 2022, at Bethel United Methodist Church with Reverend Angie Toth officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Homes.
