Helen Monk

Helen Settle Monk completed her race and passed away peacefully on May 30, 2022. She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She has also reunited with her husband David Monk and son Mike Monk. She was born on February 22, 1936 to the late William Joseph and Bernice Settle. She was a member of Old Town Baptist Church. Helen had a love for music and loved playing piano and singing in the choir. She also had a passion for studying the Bible. Helen was a great cook and used her talent to help feed people after hurricanes and other natural disasters as a volunteer with NC Baptist Disaster Relief. She was blessed to go to Belgium on a trip with the Voices of Praise Choir. Surviving are her three children, Joseph Monk (Kim), Andy Monk (Lisa), Elizabeth Bowen (Tom) and her daughter-in-law Amy Monk Taylor (Ronnie). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jenna Monk, Harrison Monk (Caroline), Alexander Monk (Raeleigh), Jackson Monk (Hannah), Gabriel Monk, Taylor Monk, Austin Monk (Spencer), Austin McGreal, Cannan Monk, Campbell Monk, Hamilton Bowen, and Mary-Stewart Bowen. She had two great grandsons, Knox and Hayes Monk. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful caregivers who have faithfully served her. We would also like to thank Hospice for its care. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022 at Old Town Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Speas and Joseph Monk officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. The graveside will be at Forsyth Memorial Park following the service.
