Mrs. Helen Locile Eaton Mickey, 96, passed away peacefully Thursday May 12, 2022, in Forsyth Medical Center. She was born January 18, 1926, in Stokes County NC to the late Virgil Branson and Carrie Boyles Eaton. Helen was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville, and a lifelong example of how to love and worship Jesus Christ. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. Helen retired from the ROTC department of Wake Forest University and was extremely proud of her efforts in joining the Civil Service during World War II to help the country that she so dearly loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers; Thurman, Robie, Wilburn, Luke, and Herbert Eaton, and four sisters; Etta Brown, Maeola Walker, Agnes Bray, and Arlene Westmoreland. Helen is survived by her loving husband of 75 years, Vernon O. Mickey, three sons; Christopher L. Mickey (Brenda), Michael Vernon Mickey (Robin), and Wayne Eaton Mickey (Linda), seven grandchildren; Lauren Dudley (Jason), C. Lee Mickey (Kelli), B. Chase Mickey, Brenna G. Mickey, Evan M. Mickey (Anna), Tate A. Mickey (Alex), and Lucas J. Mickey (Kristen), five great-grandchildren; Lily Dudley, Addison Dudley, Jake Mickey, Seth Mickey, Annie Mae Mickey, a great grandchild on the way, and many special nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00AM Tuesday May 17, 2022, at Pinnacle Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Rausch officiating. The family will receive friends following interment in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to The First Baptist Church of Stanleyville general fund or Pinnacle Baptist Church general fund.
