Mrs. Helen ""Nook"" Jarvis Mendenhall, 80, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born September 16, 1929 in Forsyth County to Amos E. and Sudie Zimmerman Jarvis. She was retired from Hanes Hosiery after 30 years of service. Mrs. Mendenhall enjoyed cooking with her sisters, the beach, bowling and was always close to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Staple F. Mendenhall, two sisters, Dell J. Johnson and Beulah J. Thomas; and by two brothers, Herbert F. Jarvis and Elcie Jarvis. Surviving are a son, Brian K. Mendenhall; two sisters, Thelma J. Hammons and Hallie J. Redmond; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Forsyth Memorial Park Pavilion with Pastor Phil Hulen officiating.
