Helen Elizabeth Saylor Hicks

Helen Elizabeth Saylor Hicks, age 94, passed away Sunday Jan 6, 2013 in Birmingham AL. She was born August 13, 1918 to John Calvin and Ruth Cumbo Saylor of Winston Salem, the youngest of seven children. Her siblings, brothers Clint ""Red"", Tom, and Pride Saylor, and sisters, Ethel Saylor, Ruby Carter and Vivian Burge, are deceased. She was married to Joel Gibson Hicks for 64 years prior to his death in 2002. She retired from the Western Electric Company in Winston Salem. She is survived by her son, Joel G. Hicks Jr. (Suevaughn) of Birmingham, two granddaughters, Jehan Hicks Corbin (Scott) of Franklin TN, and Elise Hicks Frey of Birmingham, and three great grandchildren, Kennedy, Anderson , and Finlay Corbin all of Franklin TN. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with Dr. Worth Green officiating. Interment will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
