Mrs. Helen Cook Coleman, 79, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Helen was born August 26, 1933 in Forsyth County to David Robert Cook and Jency Emma Bauguess Cook. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond E. Cook, David Robert Cook, Jr.; and sister, Ruth Cook Jackson. She was a loving and devoted mother. She is survived by her sons, Gray Coleman and wife Pepper, Dennis Coleman and wife, Melissa, and Tony Coleman; sisters, Ruby Pulliam, Betty Maddrey (James), Ruby Miller, and Ann Hemrick (Charlie); sister-in-law, Salley E. Cook; grandchildren, Jamie Blair, Adam and Lauren Coleman, Jonathan Willingham; and three great grandchildren; as well as many other family and friends. Helen retired from Lucent Technologies where she was very active in the union. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 12:00 Noon Thursday, January 17 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the funeral service following at 12:00 Noon with the Rev. Betty Helms officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The family would like to thank the Acute Palliative Caregivers at Forsyth Medical Center for the excellent care given to our mother.
