Helen Hollar Burcham went to her heavenly home on Nov 2nd, 2024. She was born to Henry and Eula Belle Hollar on Nov 1st, 1930 in Catawba County. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as brother Pete Hollar, her sister Thelma Jones, and her sister Peggy Harris. Also passing in 2019 was her husband James Burcham.
She is survived by her sister Mary Lou Granger of North Wilkesboro, NC and three loving children, Diane Anselmo (Phil) of Bluffton SC, Sherron Cannon (Herman) of Pfafftown NC, and Jaime Burcham (Cheryl) of Advance NC, as well as two granddaughters Annabel and Samantha Burcham, and many nieces and nephews. She was lovingly adopted into the family of Clemmons Village II, where she lived for four years and was affectionately known as Grandma. She was a long time member of New Hope Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Helen was a hairdresser, eventually owning her own Helen's Beauty Shop at her home. Later in life she realized her dream and became a nurse, from which she retired after many years of dedicated service. Helen loved her family, her church, and most of all her Savior who she is now with forever. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during holidays and birthdays. Her two granddaughters were the most special to her, bringing her so much joy. She also loved her church, where she taught Sunday school and supported many ministries, especially the youth program and of course the cake auction. She enjoyed nature, being outside in the yard and watching birds come to her feeder outside the window. She also loved flowers of all kinds.
A funeral service will be held for Grandma at New Hope Baptist Church of 3911 Old Rural Hall Rd, Winston-Salem at 1:00 Thursday Nov 7th. Following the service, she will be taken to Conover City Cemetery in Conover, NC for a graveside service starting at 4:00.
