Helen Blount

Mrs. Helen McGhee Blount, 75, of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022. She was born November 11, 1946 in Roanoke, VA to Billie Freeman McGhee and Robert Irvin McGhee.

Helen was a member at First Baptist on Fifth in Winston-Salem and was active in the Friendship class. She enjoyed 15 years of employment with Wake Forest University Athletic Department. Her greatest calling was to be a mom.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John Blount. Surviving are a daughter, Melissa Hobson (Mark); a son, Brian Blount (Catherine); four grandchildren, Matthew Pilcher (Min), Morgan Hobson, Gray Blount and George Blount; a sister, Mary Peters (Donald Miller) and a sister-in-law Linda Richardson.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2022 at First Baptist Church on Fifth with Rev. Amy McClure officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church on Fifth or to the donor’s choice.
