Mrs. Helen Mae Baity Barnes, 86, of Winston-Salem died Monday, March 16, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born August 3, 1928 in Yadkin County, the daughter of the late Floyd Isaac and Carrie Wooten Baity. Mrs. Barnes was a member of South Winston-Salem Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was a graduate of Courtney School and Draughn Business College and was employed by R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company prior to starting a family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Obie Eugene Barnes; a sister, Adelene Baity White and four brothers, Thurmon Baity, Raymond Baity, Cliffton ""Jack"" Baity and Thad ""Russ"" Baity. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was kind and generous toward all. Survivors include two sons, Michael Barnes and wife, Joanne of Winston-Salem and Kent Barnes and wife, Susan of Yadkinville; four grandchildren, Kimberly Ellis and husband, James of Lewisville, Allison Barber and husband, Brett of Lexington and Cameron Barnes and Matthew Barnes of Winston-Salem; three great grandchildren, Annabelle and Casey Ellis and Lila Barber; and one sister, Maxie Caudle of Yadkinville. The family would like to thank the staff at Novant CICU for their support and assistance during her illness. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 11:00 am at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with John Pesenti officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
