Helen Martin Abbott

KING - Mrs. Helen Martin Abbott, 84, passed away Monday, December 20, 2010 at Priddy Manor Assisted Living in King. She was born July 25, 1926 in Forsyth County to the late Emma Murray Martin and Everette Moore Martin. Mrs. Abbott was a member of First Christian Church of King and was active in the Ladies Missionary Group and Mary Martha's Sunday School Class. She was also the teller for the church and played the piano. Mrs. Abbott was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Abbott was preceded in death by her husband, William Lewis Abbott; sister, Jean Martin; and brother, Bill Martin. Surviving are two sons, William Everette ""Bill"" Abbott (Pattie) of King; Lewis Allen Abbott (Shirley) of Louisville, TN; two grandchildren, Everette Abbott (Christine) and Amy Cain (Peter); three great-grandchildren, Jonah Abbott, Abby Cain and Andrea Cain; also, a very special brother-in-law, Hugh Martin and sister-in-law, Lois Martin. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010 at First Christian Church of King with Glenn Van Meter, Minister; Peter Cain, Minister; and Pastor Herb Mabe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to First Christian Church of King Youth Fund, 625 Meadowbrook Drive, King, NC 27021. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Scott Vogler of Mountain View Medical, Dr. Robert Day, Hospice, and ALL the staff of Priddy Manor for the exceptional care given to Mrs. Abbott.
