Mrs. Hazel York Smith, 85, of Clemmons, a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was kind and generous to so many in need, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at her home. She was born June 27, 1924 in Forsyth County to Marvin Lee and Nellie Bullard York. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Harmony School, and was a member of Wayside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Archel Neal ""A.N."" Smith. Surviving are two sons, Richard Smith and wife Donna, Randy Smith and wife Terri, all of Clemmons; a granddaughter, Tracey Hennessee of Clemmons; a grandson, Neal Smith and wife Pamela of Winston-Salem; a great-grandson, Tyler Allen of Clemmons; two sisters, Betty Mayberry of Charlotte and Elsie Tomiak of Ocala, FL; a sister-in-law, Connie Smith of Winston-Salem; step grandchildren, Emily Brunk and husband Paul, Bethany Goodman and husband Scott; step great-grandchildren, Haven and Tyler Goodman, all of Clemmons. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 6 at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Roger Lackey officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 20424, Winston-Salem, NC 27120.
