Mrs. Hazel Louella Leagans Kapp Freeman, 89, passed away April 23, 2017 at Pinehurst-Moore Regional Hospital. She was born January 29, 1928 in Forsyth County to the late Joseph Leagans and Mary Bolin Leagans. Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by her first husband, Archie D. Kapp and her second husband, Chessie Freeman. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Stephen H. Riggs and one sister and three brothers. She was an associate member of Union Cross Moravian Church and was a member of First Baptist Church of Troy. Mrs. Freeman was a graduate of Gray High School class of 1945. She was employed at P. H. Hanes Knitting and was co-owner of Kapp & Son Exxon at Union Cross, later working at Watkins Bookstore in Thruway Center. Mrs. Freeman is survived by her children, David G. Kapp, Sr. (Karen), Teresa K. Riggs, and Melinda ""Mindy"" Shelton; five grandchildren, Kim Craver (Dwayne), David Kapp, Jr. (Faith), Breanne Smith (Jay), Travis Shelton (Lyndsay) and Taylor Shelton. She is also survived by five great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm, Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Union Cross Moravian Curch with Rev. Russell Williams and the Rev. Ed Lowder officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 2:oopm until 3:00pm prior to the service at the church.
