Hazel Lee Sanderson Cavenaugh

KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Hazel Lee Cavenaugh, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2016, surrounded by her family. Hazel was born on July 7, 1929 in Duplin County, NC to Horry Lee and Lucille Batts Sanderson. She was a charter member of Triad Baptist Church, where she loved singing in the choir. She also enjoyed playing the piano, and loved her great-grandchildren. She was Owner & Operator of Cavenaugh Nursery.

Mrs. Cavenaugh was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Willie; her parents; three brothers - James, Dan, and Homer; one sister - Lois Moore; and a son - Michael Dwight Cavenaugh.

Surviving are her son, Harry Russell Cavenaugh (Ruth); her granddaughter Charlotte Knouse (Bobby); six great-grandchildren; three brothers - Ray Sanderson (Frieda), Bradley Sanderson (Mary Sue), and Johnny Sanderson (Kay); two sisters - Peggy Shelton (Tom), and Louise English; sister-in-law Carole Sanderson; niece Linda Moore Gordon; cousin Centelle Hardison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 PM Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Triad Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 4:45 PM at the church prior to the service.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, April 8, 2016 at Cavenaugh Family Cemetery in Wallace, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Padgett Funeral Home in Wallace, NC prior to the service.
