Hayman Edgar ""Red"" Foley age 84, of 345 Woods Lane Winston-Salem, N.C. passed away Memorial Day Monday, May 25, 2009, at approximately 12:40 a.m. at Springwood Care Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Foley served in the United States Marines during World War II, and was among the 1st Marine Raider Battalion, the 3rd and 6th Marine divisions, and fought in 12 major battles in the Pacific Theater, including the battles of Midway, Guadalcanal, and Okinawa. He was born in Patrick County, Virginia on May 28, 1924 to Charlie and Sally Elliott Foley. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Norma Lee Reece Foley of the home, two sons: Jonathan E. Foley of Winston-Salem and Dr. Thomas J. (Jerry) Foley and wife Carolyn of Danville, Va.; two daughters: Youlanda Foley White and husband Jerry of Stoneville, N.C. and Malinda Foley Wall and husband Jay of Madison, N.C. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Foley was pre-deceased by one son, H E Foley Jr., three sisters: Ola Mae Foley Knight, Mildred Foley Lemons, and Mary Foley Owens and one brother, Russell Foley. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, at 3:00 p.m. at First Pentecostal Holiness Church 998 Hutton Street in Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Tim Wolfe, Rev. Don Sigmon, and Col. George Robichaux with burial to follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens on Peters Creek Parkway. Visitation will be held on Wed. May 27 from 6-8 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway.
