Hattie Rena Golden Hawks

Mrs. Hattie Rena Golden Hawks, 89, passed away February 9, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care. She was born in Carroll County, Va. To the late Hillary Emmett Golden and Nettie Mae Holderfield Golden. Hattie retired from Hanes Knitting, then because she loved helping others worked as a CNA at Danbury Hospital for several years. She was a long time member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and served faithfully there. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 68 years, Grady Blanco Hawks Jr.; one brother; and five sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Judith ""Judie"" Hawks Browder; two grandsons, Mickey Browder (Kim) and Jeff Browder; three great-granddaughters: Sarah Browder, Ecko Browder, and Rebecca Browder; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall, N.C. with Pastor Carl Goodman and Dr. Alan Hutchens officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park, 6850 University Parkway, Rural Hall, N.C. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 5413 NC Hwy 66 S, King, NC 27021. The family would like to give special thanks to the professionals at Hospice and two special caregivers, Bernice and Joanna.
