Harvey Lee Young, Sr.

On Monday, December 8th the Lord called Harvey Lee Young, Sr. home at the age of 93. He was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, and a wonderful friend to those who knew him in the Winston-Salem and the Topsail Beach area. He was born on May 19, 1915 in Forsyth County to James G. and Fannie Bell Marshall Young. Harvey was a member of Northwoods Baptist Church; he retired from Hennis Freight Lines after 20 years of service and was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII. In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his wife Louise in 2007, a grandson; Timothy Young, two sisters; Mary Davis and Clara Gilbert and three brothers; Leonard, Avery, and Donald Young. Surviving are two daughters; Maxine Y. (C.W.) Fulp and Lynda Y. (Larry) Rowland. A son; Harvey Lee Young, Jr. Grandsons; Temple and Nolan Fulp. Granddaughters; Melissa Edmonds, Lori Chaney, Robin Jackson, and Irene Edwards. Seventeen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. One brother; Robert Young. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 12, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Northwoods Baptist Church on Old Walkertown Road in Winston-Salem. Rev. Jim Thompson, Rev. Don Myers, Rev. James Oxidine and Rev. Danny Poindexter officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends Thursday evening December 11, 2008 from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. at Northwood Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Memory Care Units of Brighton Gardens and Forest Heights for their care of our Dad these last two years. Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall is serving the Young family.
