Mr. Harry ""Gabe"" Clifton Reich, 82, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014. He was born September 5, 1932 in Forsyth County to Percie Bullard Reich and Robert Lee Reich. Mr. Reich was retired from the U.S. Navy with 21 years of service serving in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Since his retirement, he worked as a security guard for several years. He was a lifelong member of V.F.W. Post 6367, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 9, Winston-Salem AM Vets Post 777, a member of Fleet Reserve Association Branch 208 in Jacksonville, NC and American Legion Clyde Bolling Post 55. Mr. Reich was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Fansler Reich. Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Reich Burgess of Durham; a son, Harry E. Reich (wife Mary Ann) of Norfolk, VA; four grandchildren; one step- grandson; five great grandchildren and one sister, Naomi Everhart of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pinedale Christian Church Missions Fund in memory of Harry Reich, 3395 Peters Creek Pkwy., Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
