Harry Martin Poland

Mr. Harry Martin Poland, 77, of Mocksville passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Poland was born in Fairmont, WV on July 11, 1936 to Harry R. and Birdie Poland. He was an engineer who began his career in Baltimore, MD with Western Electric, later moving to North Carolina to work with AT&T/ Lucent Technologies, where he retired with over 30 years of service. Mr. Poland loved classic cars and working in his garden. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; sisters-in-law Evelyn Hamlin, Betty Smith, and Sharon Watson; and brother-in-law, Cecil Hamlin. Mr. Poland is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Hensley Poland; a sister, Martha Lee of Fairmont, WV; two brothers-in-law, Gerald Hensley of Harlan, KY, and Ronald Hensley of Morristown, TN; a sister-in-law, Osla Friedel and husband Phil of Atlanta, GA; four nephews, Don Weaver, Terry Hamlin, Jeff Hamlin, and Edward Hensley; and four nieces, Sheila, Imogene, Kim, and Dawn. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Dr. Mike Duffield officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
