Harry Samuel Lankford

KERNERSVILLE - Harry Samuel Lankford, 87, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. Harry was born June 27, 1924 in Stokes County to the late William Luther and Lula Alley Lankford. He was a retired farmer and worked for the US Postal Service, retiring with more than 30 years of service. Harry was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church, Kernersville, and served as a volunteer fireman with Talley's Crossing Fire Department. He will be remembered as Harry, Daddy, Grandpa and Granddaddy. In addition to his parents, Harry is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Pegram Lankford; and ten brothers and sisters. Surviving to cherish his memory are three children, Steve Lankford (wife, Belinda), Sandy Letchworth (husband, John), and Eddie Lankford (wife, Denise); grandchildren, Amber & Richard Coley, Chad & Christy Lankford, Travis & Lisa Dull, Eva & Jason Kampwerth, Adam Letchworth, and Niki & Andy Boggs; great grandchildren, Ashton, Payton and Jon Graham Coley, Jessica and Dalton Lankford, Lilly Kampwerth, Aubrie Boggs, Colton and Tyler Dull; also surviving are two sisters, Ruth Ingram and Rubye White. A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Kernersville with Dr. Bonnie Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday, December 9, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
