Harrison Ray Pendergrass, 73, of Winston-Salem, passed away on November 4, 2021, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Harrison was born on July 18, 1948, in Winston-Salem, NC to Alva Harrison Pendergrass and Sena Mae (Neely) Pendergrass. Harrison was preceded in death by his sister, Alva Mae Freeman. Harrison is a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1968 to 1972. During his time, he served as a Fire Protection Specialist while stationed in Wiesbaden Germany at Lindsey Air Base and Pope Air Base in Fayetteville, NC. Harrison was a graduate of West Forsyth High School. He also attended Forsyth Technical Institute with an Associate in Police Science Technology, Davidson County Community College with a certified Juvenile Investigation, and a State of NC certified Emergency Medical Technician. He went on to serve 18 years with the Forsyth County Sheriff Department as Special Deputy. Harry was a loving Husband, Dad, and Grandpa. He loved Nascar, motorcycles, hang gliding, and writing poetry. Harry was a person that people throughout the years could find help and encouragement in. He had quite an impact on so many lives and loved telling jokes or funny stories to make people laugh.
Harrison is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pamela Dellinger Pendergrass; his loving daughters, Wendy Pendergrass Pope and Stacy Pendergrass (fiancé Nick); son, Jason Pendergrass (wife Angela); ten grandchildren, Tori Nicholson (Blaine), Ashlea Bostick (Nathan), Amanda Kimmer (Nick), Jake Hiatt (Jessica), Kali Eason, Kaylyn Pendergrass, Karissa Hatcher, Tyler Bailey, Joshua Pendergrass, Mali Hatcher; and four great-grandchildren, Raylee Bostick, Brandt Nicholson, Ollie Kimmer, and Gage Hiatt.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 2 PM. The family will receive friends from 1 – 1:45 PM prior to the service.
