Harold Eugene Wilson

Mr. Harold Eugene Wilson passed away Thursday afternoon March 3, 2011 at Baptist Hospital. He was born in Garden County, Nebraska on July 17, 1935 to the late Charlie and Edith Kliest Wilson. Harold was a retired Chief Warrant Officer II in the U.S. Navy with 22 years of service. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. Harold was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and Winston-Salem Moose Lodge. He loved grilling hamburgers at Harvest Worship Center in Lexington, NC, where he also attended when his health didn't keep him away. Harold never met a stranger and always loved serving others, including cooking fried chicken for his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. Harold was preceded in death by a son-in-law and three grandchildren. He is survived by wife Patricia Wilson of Lexington; brother Dale Wilson and wife Linda of Colorado; two sisters Charlotte Rundback and Barbara Leth and husband Glenn of Nebraska; eight children, Charles Wilson and wife Linda of Nebraska, Tina McLerran and husband Floyd, and Jane Lawson and husband Mike of Texas, Jeanne Bryant and husband Butch of South Carolina, Crystal Desch of Charlotte, Linda McKnight and husband Bart, and Mark Beckerdite and wife Tina of Winston-Salem, and Bonnie Brewer and husband Eddie of Lexington, 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Harold (known by those he loved as Daddy, Grandpa, Pawpaw, and Papa) created many things in ""Daddy's Fix-It"" shop that we will always treasure, but he always said he could fix anything but a broken heart. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday March 7, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Minister Tim Everhart officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest in a private burial with full military honors.
