Harold Lavan Whicker

Germanton - Mr. Harold Lavan Whicker, 79, died Sunday, September 6, 2015 at his home. Harold was born on December 19, 1935 in Forsyth County to the late Clarence and Hester Farmer Whicker. He retired from Best Cartage Trucking Company and was an active member at New Birth Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Whicker; a daughter, Terry Whicker Travis; two brothers, Robert and Richard Whicker; and one sister, Elizabeth Whicker.
Surviving are his wife, Vickie Harrelson Whicker; three daughters, Deborah Wetmore (David) of Walkertown, Patty Foster (Robert) of Welcome and Nancy Jane Hill of Midway; one son, Thomas Lavan Whicker of Walkertown; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and caregiver, April Tucker.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, at the funeral home.
