Harold Eugene West

Harold E. West, 86, of the Midway community died Wednesday, April 13, 2011. He was born in Forsyth County on August 21, 1924 to O.T. West and Margaret Franklin West who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Ina Doty West; a brother, W.R. West; and a sister, Betty Brown. He retired from McLean Trucking Company after 32 years as a driver. He was a veteran of World War II, thrice wounded with the 9th Infantry Division in Africa, Sicily, Normandy, Belgium, and Germany. He is survived by three daughters, Linda Hundley (Clay) of Midway, Regina Williams (Tommy) of Winston-Salem and Lisa West of Spokane, WA; five granddaughters, Debbie Jones (Gary) of Clemmons, Crystal Ross (Brett) of Winston-Salem, Kendra Gallos (Chris) of Lexington, Lauren and Lindsay Shern of Spokane; four great grandsons and one great granddaughter; also two very special friends, Allen and Betty Chitty of Midway; a sister, Barbara Wall of Winston-Salem; and a number of nieces and nephews. Daddys words to his family: I love you all and will look forward to seeing you all again someday in heaven. I will be waiting with your mother. Mr. West was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church of Arcadia. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Harris, Pastor T.W. Bailey, and Dr. Harold Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 15 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
