Harold Edward Stayer

Mr. Harold Edward Stayer, 79, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 at his home. He was born April 25, 1933 in Whitley County, IN to Ernest Donley and Etha Lovell Stayer. Mr. Stayer was a member of Northwood Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and was lovingly known to them as 'Papa Fuzz'. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and was retired from Superior Manufacturing Co.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Karla Daniel; two sisters; and three brothers. Surviving are his wife, Betty Oates Stayer; four daughters, Betty Johnson (Jeff), Barbara Wall (Steve), Beverly Ziglar and Hazel Speight (Danny); four sons, Ernest Stayer (Annie), Donald Jordan, John Motley, and Chris Motley; four brothers, Verlin Stayer (Janice), Frank Stayer (Imogene), Gerald Stayer (Phyllis) and Everette Stayer (Dorothy); sixteen grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 3 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Jim Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, December 2 at the funeral home.
