Harold Loyd Redding

Harold Loyd Redding, 97 years old, of Arbor Ridge in Kernersville, NC passed away on October 25, 2023 while in the care of Hospice of the Piedmont.

Harold was born on February 22, 1926 in Burlington, NC. He served our country in WW2 and fought for our freedom in the Invasion of Normandy on D-Day. He loved his country and the freedoms he fought so hard for. In 2015, he was given the National Order of the Legion of Honor by France for his service to the French Republic during WW2.

Harold spent his career in the Winston Salem Forsyth County School System as the Director of School Food Service and retired after 28 years. He was a master cake decorator and candy maker who instructed many people in those skills during classes he taught at Faye's Wonderland, which he and his wife owned.

He met and married his "sweetheart" Faye McMasters on August 5, 1950. They were blessed with a beautiful and loving marriage for 73 years.

Surviving are his wife, Faye and two daughters, Robin Caudle of Kernersville, and Ravonda Mormann of Raleigh. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren who lovingly called him "Grandfather and GaGa."

Harold was a member of Kernersville Wesleyan Church where he held the title of the oldest member.

He loved his family but more than that, he loved the Lord and we are comforted knowing he is celebrating in Heaven now. His friends and family can sum up his life with these words we know he heard as he entered heaven: "Well done thou good and faithful servant."

The celebration of his life will be held at Kernersville Wesleyan Church on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with family visitation from 1:00 p.m until 1:45 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Kernersville Wesleyan Church for the Food Pantry Ministry, 930 N. Main St, Kernersville, NC 27284.
