Harold Buddy Parks

Harold W. ""Buddy"" Parks passed away at the Kate B. Hospice Home in Winston-Salem on Saturday, November 27, 2010. He was born February 19, 1943, in Orlando, Fl. to the late Harold and Stella Parks. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Hodges. Surviving are his wife, Kathy B. Parks of the home; one daughter, Krissie Hampton of New Bern; grandsons, Derek and Taylor Hampton of Kentucky; sisters, Ann (Richard) Byland of Franklin, N.C. and Carol Lane of Orlando, Fl.; brother-in-law, Gene Hodges of Zellwood, Fl. sisters-in-law, Clara Barker of Boone and Earlene Barker of West Jefferson; 5 nephews and 5 nieces; and a special cousin, Gloria (W.F.) Lawrence of Winston-Salem. Buddy also had the honor of being ""Second Dad"" to Jennifer B. Hayden, Katie Bradley and Jeff Bradley all of Lewisville. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Buddy retired from Schering-Plough Animal Health, where he was national sales representative for several years. An avid fisherman, he owned Chunkers Guide Fishing Service until his death. He loved the outdoors, especially autumn in his favorite spot, Ophir, N.C. Buddy was a longtime member of the Forsyth Bass Anglers and Coastal Carolina Conservation Association. He also volunteered for the annual Brenner Children's Hospital golf tournament. He loved growing his ""Parks Whopper"" tomatoes to share with his friends and neighbors. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday at 4:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, officiated by Rev. Kenneth Morris who married Buddy and Kathy thirty-five years ago. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103.
