KERNERSVILLE – Harold Dean Blue, 81, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at his home. Harold was born on March 17, 1939 in Moore County to Hugh and Ruby Hardy Blue. He served in the US Army, before his career as an officer and detective with Greensboro City Police Department. After retirement, Harold enjoyed his second career in Fleet Truck Sales at Parks Chevrolet in Kernersville.

He was a devoted member at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church for over 42 years, where he sang in Choir, and served on many committees. His favorite role at church was sharing his love of the Lord with the Youth by serving as a Youth Leader, Sunday School Teacher, driving the bus for Youth functions and leading many hikes at Wilderness Trail. Harold was genuinely kind and very generous with his love for others. He was a skilled wood craftsman and enjoyed getting together with his buddies to share a round or two of golf.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Blue; and brothers-in-law, Donald Parks, and Henson Williams.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Nancy O’Hare Blue; a son, Ray Blue (Erica); a daughter, Ashley Blue; four grandchildren, Ruby, Zoey, Makenzie, and Gabriel; four sisters, Barbara Williams, Pam Johnson, Sandra Parks, and Vickie Allred.

A private graveside service will be held at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Justin Lowe officiating. The family will receive friends during a Drive-Thru visitation from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the church.
