Harold Absher

Mr. Harold Howard Absher, 96, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Ashe County, NC on September 19, 1925, the son of the late Cox Edgar Absher and Ethel Victoria Vaught Absher. Mr. Absher proudly served our country in WWII in the United States Navy and retired from McLean Trucking Co. with 31 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lavonne Kennedy Absher. He is survived by a son, Michael Absher; a daughter, Susan Cheek; two grandchildren, Michele Gibble (J.B.) and Brian Absher; four great-granchildren, Jared Gibble, Kennedy Gibble, Emma Absher and Jackson Absher; and one sister, Freda Riggans. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2022, at Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Germanton.
