H. Everette Smith

H. Everette Smith of Kernersville, passed away on November 9, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Smith was born on April 28, 1928 in Vale, NC. He was predeceased by his father, Parmer Smith; mother, Nettie Smith; sister, Bryte Hudgins, all of Vale; his daughter, Tina Smith of Kernersville; and his brother, Gene F. Smith of Winston-Salem. He is survived by his sisters, Helen Yoder and Bronnie (Ernest) Bowman of Vale; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Air Force from 1945-1947. He and his brother, Gene Smith owned and operated Smith's Texaco Service at 812 Waughtown Street for over 45 years. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens on High Point Road with military rites by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
