Guy Whicker Fisher passed away on Thursday, January 08, 2015 at 5:00 AM in the comfort of his home in Lewisville, NC. He was born on May 26, 1933 in Cabarrus County, NC to Pearl and Joseph Fisher. He was raised in Kings Mtn., NC in a full household with 10 brothers and sisters. He retired from R.J. Reynolds after 30 years of service. Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Caleb Fisher, Don Fisher, Allen Fisher, and David Fisher; three sisters, Beatrice Long, Elizabeth Venclovis, and Lula Terry. Guy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Gray Fisher of the home; son, Brad Fisher (Jane) and a daughter, Robin Fisher (Richard Marvell); six grandchildren, Lindsay, Lauren, Leigha, and Lydia Fisher and Grace and Graham Marvell; also surviving are three sisters, Elsie Dixon, Lois Brown, and Peggy Phipps; and many beloved extended family members. Guy served in the U.S. Army from 1952 - 1954 before graduating from Lenoir-Rhyne in 1959 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. It was in high school, the Army, and later at Lenoir-Rhyne that Guy was able to do what he loved best: play football. He was awarded Who's Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges from Lenoir-Rhyne College, Letterman's Club, Lee R. Kirby Memorial Award and inducted into Kings Mtn. Hall of Fame in 2004. It was through his football that Guy learned some of the most valuable lessons that would carry him throughout his life: hard work, self-discipline, and sacrifice of self for the sake of your team. He translated those lessons into the greatest roles of his life: husband, father, and grandfather. Guy's life can be defined by his undying devotion and commitment to his family. His humor, wit, and gentle spirit will be missed by them all. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Lewisville United Methodist Church with Dr. Ivan Peden and Rev.
