Gurney Ernest G.E." Snider

Mr. Gurney Ernest ""G.E."" Snider, 82, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Springwood Care. He was born July 9, 1926 in Forsyth County to Gurney Ernest Snider, Sr. and Della Carroll Snider. Mr. Snider was a member of Kerwin Baptist Church where he was an usher. He was a retired carpenter and was owner/operator of Snider Woodworks for numerous years. He was a talented amateur painter, and he also did elaborate inlay work. Mr. Snider was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving prior to the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister. Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Jane Snider; a daughter, Deborah Snider Long and husband Randy of Winston-Salem; a son, Mark Alan Snider and wife Mary of Big Lake, MN; three grandchildren, Randy Burchfield, Teresa Kite, and Paul Snider; seven great grandchildren, Rachel, Cadi, Matthew, Elizabeth, Jacob Kite, Lane and Marianne Snider; and one brother, Auburn Snider and wife Pat of Ararat. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 11 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Joe Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Waughtown Cemetery.
