Grover Cleveland Teeter, Jr., 83, of Winston-Salem passed away on January 13, 2009 after a fulfilling life. He was a resident of Salemtowne. Grover was born in Salisbury, NC on July 28, 1925, and was the son of Grover C. Teeter and Willie Meismer Teeter. Grover is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ellen Barrier Teeter, two sons, Jeffrey (and wife Reba) and Warren (and wife Annetta) and two loving granddaughters, Laura of Silver Springs, MD and Ashley of Raleigh, NC along with many loving friends, he cherished during his life. Grover served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was the manager of the Employment Security Commission of NC's Winston-Salem office. He retired with 37 years of service. During his life, he was ""the best son, husband, father and grandfather."" His life was dedicated to the service to others. He served his church and many local community organizations including the boards of Goodwill and the Industries of the Blind. He also had a love for hobbies including flying (soloing on his 16th and 66th birthdays), photography and SPEBSQSA barbershop singing. After his retirement, Grover and Ellen enjoyed spending time with their children, grandchildren and many loving friends. Grover served as a volunteer at Forsyth Medical Center and served on their Auxiliary Board. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Salemtowne, who are a wonderful and caring group of people. They would also like to extend special appreciation to Anthony Kummer, MD and the staff at Winston-Salem Health Care for their caring and support over many years. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 16th at Ardmore Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Christa Warise. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ardmore Baptist Church Seniors Ministry, 501 Miller Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
